A beautiful summer’s day saw me heading to The Boathouse to capture the wedding of Michelle and James. Knowing Michelle had watched many of my films, which made me nervous and excited all in one. There was added pressure too, as I had captured one of the bridesmaid’s wedding earlier this summer. The Boathouse has the most spectacular setting next to a lake where the bride makes her entrance for the ceremony in full gaze of the groom and guests.
I arrived nice and early to set the scene with shots of the venue before heading to where the bridal party were getting ready. I was greeted with a smile by the bride and wedding party and proceeded to capture the preparations. James arrived with his best men wearing a huge grin and splendid suit. I captured the guests arriving before going back to capture Michelle’s dad seeing her in that dress for the first time: a priceless moment captured in motion forever!
James was holding back the tears as Michelle walked down the aisle to A Thousand Years played by harpist Xena Horne: beautiful moments.
Then the Boathouse’s piece de resistance… the new Mr & Mrs went out on a boat ride around the lake, accompanied by myself and Gina Manning the photographer for the day, to get some lovely shots of the couple relaxing in the the beautiful vintage boat with the backdrop of the lake.
Photos, drinks and canapes followed the boat ride with so many smiles on show and warm hugs everywhere. A pleasure to be asked to capture. The couple was introduced into the reception with a mighty roar. Speeches followed, each very moving.
As the evening approached, singer Charlie Sadd arrived to set up. Cake cutting next, followed by Charlie singing the first dance. It was beautiful.
